At the age of 21, Johar was one of the youngest Business Bank Managers in London working for Barclays Bank PLC. He received this post after graduating with a Business Management & Information Systems Degree.

In 2004, Johar was named ‘Small Business Manager of the Year’ and at the age of 23 he became the youngest

‘Local Business Bank Manager’ in Inner London.

 

Being a resident in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, Johar has been actively involved with the local community which motivated him to stand as a candidate for the local elections in Walthamstow (High St Ward). At the age of 24, he was one of the youngest British born Pakistani Councillors in the UK. He has been a Waltham Forest councilor since 2006 and is currently Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats Group. In his first term in office Johar was elected as ‘Chairman’ of West Walthamstow Community Council.
